I deleted something in the title. The word “should.” When you take steps to work on your mental health you learn that, “should” statements are detrimental to your well-being. It’s perceived as the root to negative thought processes. It derails you from acceptance. But should statements are not what I intended to talk to you about. I was going to tell you that I was going to skip the post for tonight.
Not for reasons of feeling bad or low self-worth or anything like that. I was going to skip the post because I was spending time rewording the home page. So I thought to myself that I did show up for myself by actually working on this project of mine. Instead of it being a blog post its in the form of a revision to my site. So that’s when the title came to me. The original title: “It should count”.
Here’s my point. Everything you do matters. Now it’s a controversial thought but the expression used to be “every cent or every penny matters”. Mathematically, and logically we know that cents add up to dollars just like inches or centimeters add up to feet or yards or meters. every seemingly small action adds up to a big action. What’s most important is how we see that action and no one else. Our goal is to demolish the thought that seemingly small actions are meaningless. We have proven that is logically and mathematically incorrect.
When you wake up tomorrow, it matters. That is a choice and a decision and I’ll say a very good one. It’s not that it should count. It does count. Every morning you wake up celebrate your win. If I didn’t write this post and instead chose to focus on revising my statement on my home page that would be worth celebrating too because it counts. It counts because it matters to me. Did I just say that and mean it? I sure did. Go me! I hope I’ve said something worth saying and worth reading. I have a feeling writing this post after-all was a good idea. And guess what? I’m going to celebrate this accomplishment – with sleep!
I am so proud of you for being here. By here I mean being present in this world.
Until tomorrow. I liked my sign-off from last night. What was it? I think I said, may you have peace of mind and may your self-talk be kind. I like that. All right let’s get some rest. We have a celebration to wake up to.
